   Compared to normal cells, tumour cells rewire their metabolism to balance their metabolic needs with the harsh environment in the neoplastic site, favouring survival and proliferation.

     Our projects focus on the application of genetics and stable isotope-based metabolomics approaches to investigate the metabolism of tumours in vivo, with the aim of finding and testing metabolic targets for therapeutic intervention in cancer.

​

     We have also a long-standing interest in the flexibility of the metabolism of cancer cells, and how tumors cope against therapies targeting metabolism by adapting and remodeling their metabolism to survive and proliferate. The aim is to describe these adaptations and find combinatorial treatments that can improve therapeutic outcomes.

​

     Long story short, we study how tumors feed to uncover strategies to starve them.
