The laboratory on “Metabolism and Mitochondrial function in Physiology and Disease”  is focused on studying the metabolic implications of chronic diseases such as Obesity, Diabetes and Cancer. The lab was established upon the association of three independent groups at the University of Barcelona; the group led by Dr. Jose C. Perales focusing on “Metabolism and Mitochondrial Physiology” , the laboratory of “Integrative Physiology and Energy Metabolism” led by Dr. Pablo Garcia-Rovés, and the newly established  “Cancer metabolism lab" led by Dr. Andrés Méndez-Lucas.
